Overcoming...

I wasn't sure how to finish the title of this post. Overcoming setbacks, overcoming negative self image, overcoming life... any of these and so many more fit. It's been a hard week or so. My 33rd birthday came and went.  Didn't celebrate on the day of like I had planned, but I was able to celebrate a few days later with friends at a party here at my home.  I honestly felt amazing having friends here to celebrate my day. Food wise, it's not been a good week.  Friday for my birthday I ate lots of party food and there were homemade margaritas.  Saturday for the duck game and lunch there was nacho's and dip, then pizza for dinner and lots of alcohol.  Yesterday there was a food indulgence that I'm still trying to get my mind around.  I didn't want it, it wasn't good, but I had it any how. Working out wise, I've been terrible.  Last week I worked out twice.  It was so hot I couldn't bring myself to do it.  Still haven't gotten back on th...

In reference to my last post... almost 9 months ago... A strong start my rear end...

Ok, I did have a strong start... then a not to strong decline... I finished a few weeks ago at my highest weight ever. 354.3 pounds.  I would like to point out that was 14.4 lbs ABOVE my January 1 weight.  14.4 lbs ABOVE the "I will never be back here" line. But, that's neither here no there. I'm back on the wagon. What changed? Nothing.  And everything. I cannot blame anyone, or any situation, other than myself. Was I lazy? Yes. Was I lacking support? Maybe. Was it easier to sit on the couch after work and eat whatever I want whenever I want? Yes.  Definately. But, life isn't easy.  Life shouldn't  be easy.  And I don't want it to be. Since I fell "off" the wagon we have adopted a puppy and a kitten.  Why?  Some say I'm wanting to have kids already, and they would be right. I don't want to be that  mom.  The one that doesn't play with her kids.  That doesn't chase them, encourage them to chase her...

A Strong Start

It's been 17 days since my total meltdown.  I've started off strong and hope to remain that way.  It isn't easy.  I'm taking it one day at a time.  Each day I make the decision of I will work out, if I will eat right.  I don't think about yesterday, I don't worry about tomorrow.  Today is all that counts in the weight loss journey. I had a huge loss the first week, and a more normal one this week.  That's normal.  The first week of a new weight loss program you usually lose a lot of stored water wight.  Whatever the reason, it's gone, and that's what counts. I've been on a new eating program also since I started trying to be healthier again.  It's something my doctor told me about.  She found it when she was pregnant and had gestational diabetes.  It's a carb counting program where you just look at the carb values of the foods you are eating.  2-3 snacks per day, no more than 15 carbs each. 3 meals a day between 30 and...

A month feels like forever!

It's been a long time since my last post.  Since then the Oregon rain has stopped, I've earned my first official tan (though still white compared to most people), we've gone camping and purchased bicycles. I'm still on Weight Watchers, though I have not been giving it my all... honestly, I haven't even been giving it my anything.  Babe is not on WW any longer, and I think that makes it harder for me.  I'll update my weigh in's and off scale successes soon. For Memorial Day weekend we went camping with friends.  It was a great time and a great way to start the beginning of summer.  Since then, I've spent a good amount of time outdoors and Babe and I have even purchased bicycles.  I love mine.  I'm still getting used to riding a bicycle again, I think it's been 20 years or so since I was last on one, and boy does my rear end hurt!  I'm so glad that I purchased a stability ball last week to use as a seat here at home, it's the only w...

Moving = Activity

I'm exhausted.  We haven't even really start moving yet, but I'm beat.  Thursday and Friday afternoons were spent cleaning the new place.  It was completely filthy and smelled like wet dog.  After lots of effort and more today, the place is finally to the point where we are comfortable moving in furniture.  I still need to work on the floor of the shower in the master bath, along with finishing cleaning the blinds, but we're ready to start loading in some items.  We still have a week before we do the big push and get all of the furniture moved in, but we'll have everything else done by then to make it easier on the last day. Last weekend I think I sprained the lateral plantar muscle in my right foot.  It's been hurting ever since.  There will be much less pain in the morning, almost down to just a soreness, however after strenuous activity (cleaning/moving) it hurts to bad by night time that I have difficulty walking.  I...

Hiking FAIL!

Image
Before you try something new, especially visiting a place you've never been to before, you should do a little research.  You should not assume, let's say, that all butte's are created equal.  If you do, you may find yourself sorely mistaken. Today we attempted one of our yearbook activities.  We visited Spencer's Butte.  I'd only heard about it by seeing a photo that my sister posted on my facebook page, that she originally saw on Reddit. Source I did not think to do anything other than look up it's location on google maps: Source Babe and I decided it would be a great afternoon adventure to visit Spencer Butte this afternoon.  Imagine my surprise when this is what I found: We started up the trail, however less than 5 minutes in (parking lot was still visible), the cold (thin?) air was hurting pretty bad, and the decision was made that we were not ready for this hike yet. We made the decision to try again in a month...

Downward Dog, Cat & Cow...

Source Yesertday we started a 10 week Yoga class at a local park.  I loved it.  It was difficult, but not impossible at all, and I felt great afterwards.  I wasn't sore at all, though I had been feeling the burn, a lot, I went to bed thinking nothing of it. Then I woke up this morning.  OMG! I think that yoga class was the best  workout that I've ever had.  There's muscles that I didn't realize I had that got worked... I know cause they are BURNING and sore today.  I've going to do someone of the stretching moves we did yesterday (leaving out the strengthening ones) to see if I can work them out.  I've also going to do some research on Yoga, it's moves, etc. and see what I can learn.  My interest is more piqued in it than it was when I was taking it before. I consider this a workout SCORE! I hope to eventually work my way up to more advanced yoga, however I don't know if I'll ever be here: Source The course will go ...

Water Aerobics

Image
I love the pools.  There's just something freeing about the weightless feeling of floating in water that I absolutely adore.  A friend suggested that I should try water aerobics, and I'm so glad they did.  I friggin LOVED it!  I can't wait until next week when I get to go again.  I'll only be going for the rest of the month (Saturday's) because next month I'll start a plus size yoga class.  I'm so excited for that one also.  I'm hoping that with the new shift bid at work Jessy will be able to get an earlier schedule.  It would free me up to be able to go to the evening classes during the week.  We'll see. =) Source

Off scale successes!

I'm going to start a page to chronicle my off scale successes... Cause I had a pretty big one today! I jogged! Okay, 'just' for 60 seconds, and the just another 30. But I did it! I honestly didn't think I could and that feels great! Ok, still at the gym, doing leg curls now - back to it!
